A tea sachet is a modern take on the traditional tea bag. These pyramid-shaped small bags give tea leaves wider room to expand and infuse properly. The pyramid design improves the water flow around the tea leaves. As a result, tea sachets offer richer flavors and a more aromatic brew than their traditional counterparts.

Tea Sachets vs. Tea Bags

Tea sachets and tea bags are both used to make tea, but they have different experiences based on their construction and tea quality.

Tea Sachets

Tea sachets are small tea bags made from paper or fabric. They always hold the right amount of tea leaves for a consistent taste. Their material and pyramid shape allow thorough extraction of flavors, resulting in richer and more aromatic tea.

Tea Sachets are simple to prepare and require minor cleanup. They’re perfect for one cup, making them great for people with busy schedules. People use them at work, home, and restaurants because they’re effective and convenient.

Tea Bags

On the other hand, Tea bags are made of paper or filter material and contain tiny, ground-up tea leaves. Finely grounded tea leaves allow quick brewing but often taste bitter due to quick tannin release. Consequently, the flavors and aromas of your tea may not reach the same level achieved with tea sachets. Tea bags are perfect for a quick and convenient brew, often found in offices or for on-the-go consumption.

Both options are convenient, but tea sachets offer a richer, fuller taste compared to traditional tea bags.

How Do You Use Tea Sachets?

Using tea sachets is quite straightforward, and basically follows the exact same steps you would take to brew tea with tea bags. To make every sip of your tea taste perfect, you can follow the simple steps below.

Step 1- Boil water

Use filtered water for the best flavor. Heat water in a kettle until it reaches a rolling boil. If you’re making white or green tea, keep the water cooler around 75-80°C.

Step 2- Prepare a cup

Take a clean cup and put the tea sachet into the cup.

Step 3- Pour water

Now, carefully pour the hot water over the tea sachet. Ensure the tea sachet is fully swamped and has enough space to infuse perfectly.

Step 4- Steep

Let the tea sachet steep for the recommended time, usually between 2-5 minutes, depending on the type of tea and your taste preference.

Step 5- Remove sachet

Once your tea has steeped to your liking, remove the tea sachet. For a stronger flavor, you can use a spoon to gently squeeze out the remaining liquid from the sachet.

Step 6- Enjoy tea

Your tea is ready. Stir it if desired and enjoy it. If preferred, add milk, sugar, or lemon.

How Much Tea Is In a Tea Sachet?

A tea sachet usually contains 1.5 to 2.5 grams of tea leaves. This quantity is sufficient to brew a single cup of tea, ensuring a balanced strength and flavor.

Do Tea Sachets Go Bad?

Tea sachets generally have a shelf life of 1-2 years from the packaging date. After this period, they may lose potency and flavor. To ensure freshness, store them properly. Check for any off smells or discoloration before use.

How Do You Store Tea Sachets?

To preserve tea sachets' flavor and freshness, store them in a cool, dry place away from moisture and light. Use an airtight container to prevent them from exposure. Keeping tea sachets in a dark cupboard or drawer is ideal.
